'Embiosis' to be performed by NZSO

The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra will give four performances of orchestral work Embiosis around New Zealand in their 2017 Concert Season. Singaporean conductor Darrel Ang will lead the orchestra for performances in Wellington, Napier, Tauranga, and Auckland in May.

Embiosis was featured in the 2013 NZSO Todd Corporation Young Composers Competition, and subsequently awarded the Orchestra Choice Award. This will be the first set of public performances in New Zealand for Embiosis.

World Premiere of 'Within a Forest Dark'

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music Conservatory Orchestra, led by music director Eric Dudley, gave two performances of orchestral work Within a Forest Dark this past weekend to great acclaim in the Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall at 50 Oak Street. 

Within a Forest Dark was the winner of the Highsmith Award in 2016, the Conservatory's "top composition prize". For more information relating to the prize and the award, read the press release here.
